Blood Thinners and Phosphatidylserine: Interaction Overview
Phosphatidylserine (PS) is a phospholipid that, at high doses (>400mg/day), may modestly inhibit platelet aggregation by altering membrane phospholipid composition.
Mechanism of Interaction
Phosphatidylserine (PS) is a phospholipid that, at high doses (>400mg/day), may modestly inhibit platelet aggregation by altering membrane phospholipid composition. This interaction is theoretically possible but evidence in humans is very limited. At standard supplemental doses (100–300mg/day), the risk is likely negligible.
Recommendation
At standard doses (100–300mg/day), generally safe with anticoagulants. At high doses (>400mg/day), use caution and inform your prescribing physician. Separate dosing times from anticoagulant medication when possible.
