Ashwagandha and Lion's Mane: Interaction Overview
Ashwagandha reduces cortisol and activates GABA-ergic pathways for anxiolytic effects.
Mechanism of Interaction
Ashwagandha reduces cortisol and activates GABA-ergic pathways for anxiolytic effects. Lion's Mane promotes NGF-driven neurogenesis. High cortisol suppresses neuroplasticity; by reducing stress hormones, ashwagandha may actually enhance Lion's Mane's neuroplasticity benefits. The two also have complementary anti-inflammatory effects (ashwagandha via NF-κB; Lion's Mane via microglial modulation).
Recommendation
Excellent daily foundation stack for cognitive longevity and stress management. Ashwagandha: 300–600mg KSM-66 extract; Lion's Mane: 500–1000mg fruiting body. Both can be taken in the morning or evening.
